Come have your special birthday/business/any party in STYLE at Create in Clay!

Parties cost $150. This includes full use of the studio for three hours, the ability to decorate it any way you like, clay, and full staff to teach ceramics. You can also purchase pieces to decorate for people who don’t want to get to dirty and/or just want to decorate their own pieces. The price does not include firing. The firing price is determined by how many pieces are going to be fired and decorated. The price for firing is $50 for the firing fee and $5, $10, or $15 depending on the size.

What we have :

- 10 Ceramics wheels (all electric + 1 kick wheel)

-Hand building stations to create with your hands.

- A small fridge for alcohol and drinks and tables for food and stuff.

- A spacious studio to decorate as you will.

- Up to 20 of your friends can rotate through learning to throw.

- We have your choice of music or bring your own.

- And anything else you can think of. We listen to your requests and work with you and help make your birthday/celebration a unique and fun experience with a little learning thrown in!

We limit parties to 20 people or less, and rotate learning ceramics so everyone can learn. Also you can reach the school at (925) 405-2963. Supervised children can attend!

There are two ways you can decorate your ceramics with us

1.You can paint it and decorate it with glaze

Sign up for your day in decorating your own ceramics.  Bring your friends, children, anyone to spend the day personalizing creations that are made locally by people that actually create them in the studio you are at.

2. You can raku your decorated works.  A brief explanation of raku is bellow.

What is the style of decoration called Raku?
The Dictionary defines Raku as a process by which pottery is fired at a relatively low temperature and then moved while hot to a closed container with combustible materials (as paper or sawdust) that ignite and cause a reaction creating colors and patterns in the pottery’s surface; also : pottery produced using this process.

At Create In Clay, we throw all of the pottery used in our “Decorate Your Own Pottery” firings.  We allow you to decorate with Raku glaze and assist in firing the piece. This gives the piece a more personal touch and allows you to give back to local artists.  THE RESULTS ARE AMAZING!

Time : 2 hours – The Raku decoration and firing only takes about 2 hours so after your finished with the process you can take the artwork home that day! There is no coming back or waiting for the piece to be fired for long periods of time.

You schedule your class at a time convenient for you by registering on the registration page.

Monday – Thursday  11:00AM – 10:00PM  anytime during school hours.

Saturday – Sunday   9:00AM – 7:00PM  with classes at 9:00AM, 1:000PM and 4:00PM.

You can purchase a single class to try the school or pay as you go for $30; firing fees and glazing fees are not included.

There are 3 Package deals available– The 6, 12, and 18 class packages.

The 3 class package is an in store special for students who have tried an introductory class.

Make sure you change the class type to correspond to the class package you’ve purchased when registering for classes.

• You can use the classes anytime during the normal class scheduling times. Please fill out the registration form with your name, date and time you would like to come in or email your request to info@createinclay.org for your class date and time.
• Classes will run on a floating skill level.  We work with your skill level whether your a beginner or a more advanced student.
• We keep classes small so we can dedicate more of our time to individual students.
• Classes fill up at 8 students.
• Standard firing fees are include.  Glazing fees depend on the size of the pottery you would like to complete.
• You must purchase your own clay but we do provide tools to use during your class.  Bags of clay can be purchased at the school.
• Personal private lessons are 3 hour sessions and by appointment only.  Please call or email for pricing

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a community to launch such a venture. As a result of this event, the school expects to have enough money to finish the customization of the space and to provide the starting materials required for the first classes.

Below is a link to the Blog and the Commercial we are using for the event.

The evening will include: drinks and hors d’oevres, music/dancing, the ability to buy art and other objects via silent auction to help out the school. The silent auction and raffle will include: art by the artist Christian Moffat; wine and wine related objects, including: specialty items from selected wineries, an overnight stay in St. Helena, winery tastings from the same places shown in “Sideways”, and dinners at top restaurants in Napa.

The front door will have a suggested donation of $20. With a donation of 60 dollars or more at the event or online, you will receive a free one hour scheduled lesson at Create in Clay with Chris.

• Christian has taught ceramics one on one and in a classroom setting for about 10 years with the Herron School of Art , at Ohlone Junior College, and privately.
• As an accomplished artist in both ceramics and photography, he went to the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis (part of Purdue and Indiana University) to continue his education.
• In ceramics he reached the rank of Master Potter.
• He has had various shows around Indianapolis and San Francisco, including:  Several in the Wheeler Art Center (Personal and group), Big Wheel studios (personal and Group), The Herron Gallery, Talbot Street Art Fair, Kings Beach Art Fair, and San Francisco Street Artists.
• He has also studied at Humboldt State University in Ceramics and Ohlone Junior College.
